Yes, the southeastern face of Mount Rushmore in South Dakota’s Black HIlls National Forest is the site of four gigantic carve sculptures depicting the faces of U.S. Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.

It is known as the “Shrine of Democracy”, Mount Rushmore welcomes upwards of 2 million visitors every year, and it is one of America’s most popular tourist attractions.

Yes, there are numerous ways to experience this site and immerse yourself in the human history and the natural surroundings of the Black Hills of South Dakota.

Can people visit other places?

Yes, if you have 1 – 2 hours you can visit the Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center to view exhibits and a 14 minute film describing the reasons for and methods used in carving Mount Rushmore.

You can also walk the Presidential Trail to get up close and personal with the mountain sculpture and perhaps glimpse some of the area's wildlife.

In September, you can visit Sculptor’s Studio, where Gutzon Borglum spent much of his time refining his scale model of Mount Rushmore.
